Soundview 25th Anniversary
F ES T I V A L
On Sunday, June 1, 2014, Soundview celebrated its quarter-century birthday with a 25th Anniversary Festival on campus that drew some 200 current families, alumni, current and former trustees, faculty and staff, friends and community residents. The afternoon’s activities included entertainment, refreshments, crafts, games, an all-school Art Show, a Middle School Science-History Fair, a basketball mini-tournament and the burial of a time capsule. Fairgoers received special Soundview 25th Anniversary tote bags and pens.
After welcoming remarks by W. Glyn Hearn, Head of School, Arnon Hurvitz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and local officials, the guests heard from three alumni – Rebecca Green ’03, Andy Laub ’08 and Olivier Jean-Pierre ’11 – who spoke about the way that Soundview shaped their lives. Soundview honored former Board of Trustees Chairman Christopher Lewis for his many years of leadership and generosity to the School.
Entertainment featured an aerial acrobatic performance by Soundview alum Polly Solomon ’04, performances at an Open Mike by talented alumni and current students and wandering magician (Josh Kaplan ’15.) A time capsule, assembled by Soundview students, faculty and staff, was buried in one of the tunnels behind the house, to be opened in 2039!
Thank you to all the parents who organized and supplied the refreshments. And thanks also to all those who purchased a brick to support Soundview in the “Buy-A-Brick” Fundraiser.
